Dipole Antenna Length Calculator

This calculator estimates the total length of a center-fed half-wave dipole antenna based on the desired operating frequency.

The basic formula used is: \[ L = \frac{468}{f} \] Where:

The result is the full dipole length; divide by two to get the length of each leg. This formula assumes typical wire insulation and average height above ground. You may need to trim or lengthen each side slightly to achieve resonance, so fine-tuning with an SWR meter or antenna analyzer is recommended.

For metric results, the formula in meters is: \[ L = \frac{143}{f} \]
