Decibel (dB) Calculator

The decibel (dB) calculator allows you to compute gain or loss between two signal levels, either in terms of **power** or **voltage**. Decibels are commonly used in radio, audio, and telecommunications to express ratios in a compact logarithmic scale.

If you're comparing two **power levels** (e.g., transmitter output vs. received power), choose the **Power Ratio** option. The calculator will apply the formula:
\[ \text{dB} = 10 \cdot \log_{10}\left(\frac{P_2}{P_1}\right) \] If you're comparing two **voltage levels** (e.g., signal amplitude in volts), choose **Voltage Ratio**. The formula becomes:
\[ \text{dB} = 20 \cdot \log_{10}\left(\frac{V_2}{V_1}\right) \]

To use the calculator, enter two positive values (Input 1 and Input 2) and select the correct type of comparison. The result will show how many decibels of gain (positive dB) or loss (negative dB) exist between them.
